WHAT IS healthTIDE
healthTIDE is a network of statewide and place-based community partners who work together to create bigger change faster around nutrition and physical activity. We work to connect, align, and unite multi-sector partners across Wisconsin who are working to make the healthy choice the easy choice and reduce health disparities so that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We bring partners together to create lasting policy, system, and environmental changes related to nutrition and physical activity.
Shared goals include:
Building strong, lasting partnerships and growing the network.
Increasing awareness and public support of health-related issues.
Creating stronger investments for statewide and local, place-based changes in healthy eating and physical activity opportunities and policies.
Contribute to advancing health equity in Wisconsin.
Ensure all voices matter
Contribute to health equity
Use evidence, while supporting innovation
Build trust and authenticity
Harness and be responsive to action
Within the network, healthTIDE hosted specific teams using the Collective Impact framework as a guide: Early Childhood, Schools, Active Communities, and Healthy Food Retail. These teams, like the network, were made up of partners who hail from state agencies, private industry, nonprofits, and communities across the state. Learn more here.
Through healthTIDE’s network and brand, we communicate to supporters and the public, raising awareness on the issues while promoting solutions and community successes.
healthTIDE staff are advised by a Leadership Council with statewide and local representation.
The healthTIDE network has a staff who, together, create change through: Connecting, Convening, and Catalyzing partners to Collective Action.
Staff have included individuals from the UW-Madison, UW-Extension, the Statewide Alliance of YMCAs, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Winnebago County Health Department, and Kids Forward.
Funding initially came from a generous grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Program at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health as part of the Obesity Prevention Initiative which ended in 2019.
